The distinction matters more than it sounds. A print shop takes a blank shorts style already made by someone else, adds your logo, and ships. A shorts manufacturer builds the garment: fabric selection, liner or no liner, waistband construction, pocket placement, and seam finishing — developed from your spec or a reference garment, not picked off a shelf.

If you only need a small run of an existing blank decorated with your logo, a local print shop will be faster and cheaper than an overseas factory — that’s not us, and we’ll tell you so upfront. The practical difference shows up in accountability. When the factory that cuts the fabric is the same company you’re talking to, a fit problem or a fabric substitution has one owner — us. Every set is checked against the sample you approved, and if bulk drifts from it, we remake — not just refund.

Everything below runs in-house — cutting, sewing, decoration, labeling, and packing in one facility. That is not a marketing line; it is why we can hold a 100-piece MOQ and still fix the construction detail most shorts suppliers get wrong.

5″ and 7″ inseam training shorts in mesh, polyester interlock, and cotton-poly blends, with or without a mesh brief liner. The liner is the most common construction failure we see in reference samples: cheap mesh liners bunch, the waistband integration is often poorly sewn, and the liner is cut too short to prevent ride-up. We use separate liner elastic and a double-needle attachment at the waistband join, rather than sewing the liner and shell into one seam.

High-rise biker shorts with flatlock construction matching legging specs, and board-style training shorts with a woven shell. Whether you work with us or not, these are the checks that separate a real manufacturer from a print shop or trading company with a website. They take one email to run.

1. Ask who owns the production line. “Is production in your own facility, or subcontracted?” A factory answers with a location and can put you on a video call from the floor. A trading company or print shop changes the subject.

2. Ask if they manufacture or decorate. If a supplier can’t tell you what fabric the shell is made of, where the liner comes from, or how the waistband is finished, they’re printing on someone else’s blank — fine for a quick small run, not for a private-label programme with real spec requirements.

3. Ask specifically about the liner. Cheap mesh liners bunch and ride up. Ask how the liner elastic is attached to the waistband — a factory that has actually made athletic shorts before will have a specific answer, not a shrug.

4. Check what the MOQ actually means. “MOQ 100” can mean 100 total, or 100 per colour, or 100 per colour per size. Get it in writing. Ours: 100 finished pieces per colour per design, sizes split freely within it.

5. Ask what happens if bulk doesn’t match the sample. This is the question most suppliers dodge. Ours: the approved sample is sealed as the production reference, and if bulk drifts from it, we remake — not just refund.

You don’t need a complete tech pack to start — a reference garment and a target price get most programs moving. Here is the path either way.

Send a tech pack, or a reference garment plus target market, construction (liner/no liner, pockets), and quantity. We quote within one business day and flag anything outside standard range in the first reply, not after sampling.

Our pattern room drafts or adapts your block, then sews one proto sample per style in-house at a flat fee, credited against bulk orders. Turnaround 10–14 days. You evaluate fit, fabric hand, and construction before any bulk commitment.

Once the sample is approved, the fabric, liner, and trims are confirmed against your signed-off standard before bulk cutting begins. That confirmed sample becomes the reference every inspector checks against — not a verbal description of it.

12–18 days depending on construction and volume, with QC at three points: post-cutting measurement checks, mid-production seam and liner checks, and final inspection against the approved sample to AQL 2.5.
