Plush and faux fur are both cut-pile fabrics — the key difference is pile length and surface appearance. Plush fabric has a shorter, denser pile (typically 10–30mm) with a uniform, velvety surface. Faux fur fabric has a longer, more structured pile (30–80mm) designed to replicate the visual texture and weight of natural animal fur — without the environmental or ethical concerns of real fur.

What is the difference between plush and faux fur?
Plush has a short, dense, uniform pile (10–30mm) — soft and structured. Faux fur has a long, varied pile (30–80mm) engineered to mimic natural fur. We produce both with full custom pile height options across the range.
What is faux fur fabric made of?
Our faux fur and plush fabrics use 100% polyester pile fibres, available in virgin polyester or GRS-certified recycled polyester (rPET). The backing fabric is typically woven polyester or knitted tricot. All products are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified — every component tested for harmful substances.
Is faux fur eco friendly?
The animal welfare answer is clear — faux fur eliminates real pelts entirely. The environmental picture is more nuanced. Polyester pile fabric, even rPET, does not biodegrade at end of life. The genuine eco gain is in production: GRS-certified rPET uses roughly 45% less energy than virgin polyester and diverts plastic bottles from landfill. That is a real difference, but not a complete solution. For brands making eco claims, the most defensible position is GRS-certified recycled fibre + OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 — and being transparent about the end-of-life limitation rather than overstating the claim.
