What Is GRS Certification?
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an international, voluntary, full-product standard administered by Textile Exchange. It independently certifies recycled content, supply chain traceability, and social and environmental manufacturing practices for textile products.
GRS 4.0 is the current version. It covers all types of recycled input materials — post-consumer and pre-consumer — and requires verified chain of custody at every stage, from raw material through to the finished product leaving the factory.
What does GRS actually verify?
GRS verifies three things: (1) the recycled content percentage in the finished product, (2) chain of custody documentation at each tier of the supply chain, and (3) the manufacturer’s social and environmental practices meet GRS minimum standards. It does not replace product safety certifications like OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.
Who administers GRS?
GRS is owned and administered by Textile Exchange, a global non-profit working to reduce the environmental impacts of the textile industry. Certification is carried out by approved third-party certification bodies, not by Textile Exchange or the manufacturer directly.

What Recycled Materials Does Renrui Use?
Under GRS certification, we source recycled polyester (rPET) derived from post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. Each tonne of rPET fabric saves approximately 60 kg of CO₂ versus virgin polyester and diverts plastic waste from landfill and ocean sources.

Selected product lines incorporate pre-consumer recycled fibre — manufacturing offcuts and yarn waste — where technically feasible. All sources are GRS scope-approved.
🔬 Content Threshold
GRS requires a minimum of 20% recycled content to bear the label. Renrui’s certified fabric lines exceed this threshold. Exact percentages are stated on Transaction Certificates.
How GRS Chain of Custody Works
GRS requires verified documentation at every tier of the supply chain, so a buyer can trace recycled content from finished fabric back to the source. We participate in the full chain — from certified yarn supplier through to final fabric and TC issuance at shipment.

How to Verify Your Transaction Certificate
1. Request the TC
We issue a Transaction Certificate for every GRS-certified shipment. Request it when placing your order or at the proforma invoice stage.
2. Check Online
Verify the TC via the Textile Exchange public database or CERT ID platform using the certificate number. Scope Certificates are also publicly searchable.
3. Make Your Claim
With a valid TC on file, you can make credible GRS recycled content claims on product labels, your website, and marketing materials.
GRS Certified vs. "Recycled" Claim — What's the Difference?
The “recycled” claim is one of the easiest things to misrepresent in textile sourcing. A supplier can call any blend with a handful of recycled fibres “eco-friendly” and, until recently, there was no mechanism for buyers to check that assertion. GRS certification was developed specifically because the market needed a standard that audits the entire chain — from raw material collection through yarn and fabric production — and issues a per-shipment Transaction Certificate that buyers can verify independently, without relying on the supplier’s word.

They are complementary certifications. Renrui holds both, giving buyers verified recycled content AND product safety assurance from a single supplier.
How do I verify a GRS Transaction Certificate?
GRS Transaction Certificates can be verified via the Textile Exchange public database or CERT ID platform using the certificate number. The TC lists the supplier, product, recycled content percentage, shipment quantity, and validity period. Renrui provides a TC for every GRS-certified order. Scope Certificates are also publicly searchable by company name or certificate number.
